NCAA slams school for harmless fantasy leagues

The NCAA has come down extremely hard on the University of Missouri- St. Louis, with two years of probation sand then some. The NCAA believes the coach at the Div 2 school violated ‘their’ anti gambling laws by running a multi million dollar fantasy sports league and playing in others. Did we miss something here? It’s just fantasy sports…I know, okay, it violates the NCAA’s rules on sportsbetting, but here’s the thing, it’s not sports betting! Read more.

Roethlisberger back sooner than expected

You have to admit, for the seriousness of what Roethlisberger allegedly did to a young and probably very hot and very flirty young girl, maybe he’s getting off a little easier than many Moms would like. But then again, he wasn’t actually charged with a crime, I guess with rape charges it’s a buy one get off scott free type deal. And I can’t help but ask the question, if this was another athlete, as in say, a Michael Vick type athlete, why do I feel like there’s no way in hell the league is shortening a suspension for a second consecutive rape charge?

But with the NFL easing up on Big Ben’s suspension, just how much does this change the outlook for the Steelers? NFL experts often say a team grows through-out four game increments, Ben now expected to be back in the lineup sooner than previously expected the Steelers turns some heads? Props? Read more.

John Inser wows crowd at US Open

Right now the biggest story at the US Open isn’t about umpires being chastised and publicly humiliated, it isn’t about how players nearly died in the heat, and sadly it’s not about the high pitch shrills from a tall blonde Russian, it’s about John Isner and his amazing run. Of course it helps that Isner is American, but his story is compelling nonetheless. The US Open is the first bout of competitive play since Isner returned from his ankle injury, and yet he’s looked anything but rusty. It looks like Isner is really trying to make a name for himself in the tennis world, and not one from an abomination of tennis where a match can take days to win. Nope, the lanky American isn’t wasting anytime, he’s winning matches, and the New York crowd, albeit, he did steal the hype and fire from a teenager and a fellow countrymen to do it. Hey, patriotism sells! Get your props up on Isner! Read more.

German-Football-ClubsSeptember 8 could go down as an early arrival of Christmas for German football clubs. Are you ready for some REAL football?

Ready-Real-FootballPerhaps the length of the NFL preseason should be cut in half, as per the wishes of those revenue-crazed owners (and those sportsbooks likely wouldn’t object, neither). As it stands, preseason ‘football’ often resembles (at best) a public scrimmage, or (at worst) a bunch of Pop Warner kids divided up into teams only moments before kickoff, with an equivalent lack of cohesiveness, coordination and (at times) common sense. So after a month of these football follies, have we learned anything about what to expect when the games start meaning something? Read more.

Using the Primacy Effect to your advantage

John Wray, aka, JimmyLegs wrote a very interesting article on the Primacy Effect in Poker. Click Here to check out the article, and yes, you will have to get your subscription on, but don’t worry, it’s free and you probably should have a subscription to this site anyway. Just saying.

JimmyLegs talks about how a rookie poker player winning big at his first big poker game of the night might end up being the worst thing for him, because of the Primacy Effect. The effect of your brain remembering and placing more emphasis on things that happen earlier rather than viewing a series of events objectively. As JimmyLegs describes it, it’s kind of like how you remember your first girlfriend dozens of skirts later, or something along those lines.

Ricky Bobby once said, If you ain’t first your last…He was right in many respects. From working in a call center, I’ve seen newbies to online casinos pledge absolute loyalty just because they won in their first few tries. Online Casinos know this all to well, in essence, the primacy effect has been used by online gambling casinos from jump.

Online sportsbooks aren’t much different, When you look at sportsbook, obtaining first time clients is paramount to success. Clients tend to stay with a book they’re familiar with especially if they’ve won. That’s why customer service is such a huge difference maker. Not all clients are going to win in their first cracks at it, but a strong customer service team can make all the difference in the world between keeping that client or losing him to competitor. Even if a client doesn’t win, the memory of how accomodating, how helpful, how friendly and knowledgeable the customer service staff was can truly stick out in client’s mind.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the social instances in which the primacy effect work to your advantage. As gambling professionals, we like to party, we like to gamble, drink, and carry on, straight up. Sometimes, excessive partying can lead to a situation where a group orgie might ensue. I’ll just throw this out there, you can do what you want with it…Depending on how unsavory the participants are, you probably want to be the first guy in and first guy out, after you put on a show of course. Sounds counter intuitive, but trust me, you’ll live to F… another day. Just keeping it real.

The Becks is back in town

Becks-Back-TownDavid Beckham summer-long sabbatical from the game of football looks to be over, as he prepares for next weekend’s MLS match-up between DB Galaxy and Columbus Crew. Beckham had been suffering the curious, but increasingly prevalent, videogamitis, treated only with a summer of rest in the bed with the other half. There’s one man who could really do with Becks, and that’s Don Fabio at Wembley tonight – oh no, I forgot he’s ‘retired’ the England midfielder on live TV. Read more.

WWE stars in movies

WWE-Stars-MoviesWWE wrestling’s a weird one. If you’re one of those who grew up watching it then, unless you own a ‘The Rock’ t-shirt, then you’re probably not even aware that it even exists anymore – or that spandex is still allowed to be worn under United Nations rules.

But then your flat-mate brings home a straight-to-DVD film you didn’t know existed, let alone that they’re even selling the thing. It’s action, the special effects are rather shite, however, you recognise the guy who seems to be jumping through windows, biting off the top of a stick of dynamite, and getting the girl – he used to wrassle. That’s where they’ve gone and, save the odd comeback, that’s where they’re staying. A deal to convert movie stars to WWE stars is in the pipeline with the return of the buried alive match-up starring the Undertaker and Tom “the shitman” Cruise. It’s gonna be a good ole fashioned schlobber knocker Read more.

WPT London continues into third day

WPT-LondonAfter exploring the city for a few days, dropping in on Mohammad Al-Fayed in Harrods, partaking in some Beefeater baiting at the tower, chatting up the Queen, and generally being a fucking riot, the WPT is definitely having a good time of it in cockneyville. Day 2 saw Giovanni Safina jump to the top of the chip count table with a stack of 508,800, closely followed by Tonio Roeder with 424,400. The chump of the day was Brit Luke Schwarz, who missed out at the flop with a pair of kings. Better luck on day 3 ya loudmouth! Read more.
